WINNERS Lacrosse

WINNERS Lacrosse uses lacrosse to help underserved youth ages 5-15 reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible young men and women. WINNERS grew from serving 300 students at the start of their partnership in 2014 to 1800 students in fall 2015.

Urban Ed

Urban Ed

Urban Ed was experiencing challenges during the recession. Fair Chance worked with Urban Ed to rebuild their board, find additional funding, and launch new programs such as a technology camp for elementary students and a revived technology-training program for truant teens.

Teens Run DC

Teens Run DC

Teens Run DC promotes the physical, social, and emotional well-being of underserved youth through mentoring and distance running. When Teens Run DC sought out a Fair Chance partnership, their passionate leadership was brimming with ideas but needed support.

School Justice Project

School Justice Project

School Justice Project is a legal services and advocacy organization serving older students with special education needs who are involved in DC’s justice system. Since the Fair Chance partnership, SJP’s revenue has grown by 59% and they serve nearly 5 times more students.

Access Youth

Access Youth

Access Youth identifies at-risk students and provides them with mediation, coaching, and life-skills training to reduce truancy, suspension, and arrest. Working with Fair Chance, Jodi was able to establish sound financial management practices and improve the grant submission process.

Reach, Incorporated

Reach, Incorporated

Reach was a two-person organization with an innovative approach to addressing literacy. During the Fair Chance partnership, Reach developed an employee handbook as well as a strategic plan. These two concrete documents were essential building blocks to align the Board and staff on Reach’s future.

Project Create

Project Create provides accessible arts education to promote positive development in children, youth and families experiencing homelessness and poverty. Project Create’s growth is remarkable – since working with Fair Chance, Project Create now serves nine times more youth.

Healthy Babies Project (HBP) connects high-risk, pregnant DC women and families to health care, social services, shelter, and educational opportunities. With Fair Chance’s help, a reconstituted Board was equipped with new systems and processes to improve effective governance.
