On Thursday, March 18, The Prince George’s County Council, Venture Philanthropy Partners + RaiseDC, and Fair Chance hosted Prince George’s Proud — a celebration of the 2021 graduates of the Ready for Work program in Prince George’s County, MD.

The Ready for Work Nonprofit Capacity Building Initiative provides select nonprofits in Prince George’s County with engaging, three-year long capacity building partnerships to help improve organizational outcomes and strengthen each nonprofit’s capacity to support young people in achieving their goals. Over 130 guests joined us live for a virtual program (that has since been viewed by 500 people!) honoring the four nonprofit leaders and organizations that made up our first cohort of partners in the program: Reverend Gail Addison of End Time Harvest Ministries; Joseph Fisher of First Generation College Bound; Brooke Kidd of Joe’s Movement Emporium; and Toni Lewis of Foundation for the Advancement of Music and Education (FAME).

These nonprofit leaders have dedicated the past three years to improving their systems and building their leadership skills to improve their programming for the youth of Prince George’s County. Interim progress data shows that the graduates saw:

• A 45% average increase in youth served
• a 42% average increase in budget
• A decrease in dependence on County funding
