Fair Chance Honors Carol Thompson-Cole at the 2024 Butterfly Bash

Washington, D.C., Thursday, September 25, 2024 – Fair Chance is thrilled to announce that Carol Thompson-Cole will be honored as this year’s Founder’s Award Recipient at the 2024 Fair Chance Butterfly Bash. This prestigious event will take place on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

The annual Founder’s Award is presented to an organization, individual, or family in the DC area who demonstrates “exemplary leadership and outstanding service towards building a world where every child succeeds. Carol’s selection for this honor highlights her ongoing and unwavering commitment to ensuring greater access and opportunities for all children, youth, and families through social impact.

Carol’s dedication is exemplified by her tremendous service to the District of Columbia and ongoing commitment to building a more equitable greater DC through her leadership of Youth Invest Partners and the impact of that organization on the lives of thousands of young people, we believe that Carol embodies the spirit of this award.  Your engagement of and commitment to Fair Chance over the past seven years of collaboration in Prince George’s County is another reason we believe you are the right person to honor at our event.

The 2024 Butterfly Bash promises to be a festive affair, welcoming approximately 350 guests, including Fair Chance Partners, individual supporters, corporate and family sponsors, and institutional funders. Attendees will enjoy a festive evening of community, connections and making a difference with a special program at the VIP reception recognizing our Fair Chance partners and honoring Carol.

Since 2002, Fair Chance has engaged over 200 DC and Prince George’s County community-based nonprofits, collectively reaching more than 150,000 children, youth, and families experiencing poverty. Fair Chance’s impact is evident: partner nonprofits typically double both the number of participants served and their budget sizes within five years of partnership.
